It is a blogger’s dream to just be. Be inspired. Be in the moment. No talking. Just let me rest, think and allow these words to flow as 90s R&B music plays in the background. Natural Blend Café gives me that freedom. I walk in this oasis on Church Avenue in Brooklyn, New York and escape the hustle and bustle that is right outdoors. I yearn for the simplicity of life in this busy world.
Ironically enough, I drop off my son to school by or before the 7:26 am cut off time, take two trains to get here, and occasionally stop by the bank in order to pay in cash and budget better. All of this is done before 8:35am! Listen, if you won’t pat me on the back, I will do it myself! There’s no need for validation, applause or approval, although it would be nice. I know my God is sustaining me. And oh, what sustenance I need.
During the workweek, mornings start at 5:15 am, where I devote a moment to God before brushing my teeth, bathing and changing my clothes/trying to figure out this hair and outfit situation. Then, it’s Little Man’s turn to get pulled out of bed (gently, with a kiss), dressed, given vitamins, and walked out the door. My record time was 6:30 am. It’s insane seeing these facts and figures on the screen (because guess who’s at work by 9:00 am?) This Momma/Woman/Dope chick… You get the point. Me!
I am doing it all by God’s Grace; not alone, and yet it seems as if I am running a one-woman show. But, God! He sustains me and points me in directions for help. You can be led too.
Life is not easy, especially as a parent, and a single one at that. Constantly worrying if your child is ok, where the money is coming from to do this or that, and strategizing multiple forms of childcare, is work. But, these pockets of quiet time, offering pause and relaxation are so precious. Cherish them and refuel. Embrace the stillness of God, for He gives perfect peace to the man, woman, boy or girl whose mind is stayed Him. (Isaiah 26:3)
Take a breather by honoring your hard with rest.
On that note, be great! Be inspired. And, keep going, at your own delicate pace.
