the Veggie

Adyre Mason, who was once a Systems Engineer and founder of the No Compromise, blog turned magazine, which we will get into later, is now fully invested as Chef and Owner of The Veggie.  From the name itself, you may have already guessed that Adyre, is (drumroll please) …vegan!

Her transition into being “veggie" (aka vegan) and partnering in the food industry is a culmination of a spiritual awakening and her mom’s passing.  Adyre took several classes in Seminary where she discovered the unique relationship between food and tithing.  In reading Deuteronomy 14, she understood the specifics between clean and unclean foods.  A following verse of the same chapter mentioned tithing, which was more than managing money; it involved sacrifice.  So, food was connected to tithing through sacrifice.  This enlightenment caused her to reevaluate her eating habits and become more intentional on what went into her body. Allowing herself the grace of a year and a half long transition into being vegan, Chef Adyre Mason now runs The Veggie with pride.

In an Instagram post on October 24, 2017, Adyre mourns the loss of her mom while bravely embracing her calling as a chef.  She announces the soft launch of TheVeggie, “a mobile vegan comfort food concept” in January 2018.   As the date of this blog post makes evident, her dream is a reality!  The Veggie is an active business, as well as a cute moniker for Adyre’s new lifestyle, which she assures has its benefits.

For us ladies, interested in preserving our sexy, Adyre confirms that being vegan allows her weight to “sit better” on her body (meaning she kept her curves).  That is all I needed to hear-seriously.  Having dabbled with vegetarianism for years, it has been hard for me to fully commit.  But, to know that my curves will only look better with a plant based lifestyle, is more of an incentive to go veggie!  Hey, I am just being honest-a quality shared by our dear chef.

She once had a magazine called No Compromise.  Ironically, Adyre felt the publication was not living up to its name.  She noticed people deemed “no compromise” to mean not giving on what they accepted to be right, as opposed to reflecting on Christian principles they may have backslid on.  Her intent was for Christians not to compromise their faith for the world.

Adyre walked away from the successful magazine because it was not attracting the intended target.  She even states, ‘the vision is not always for me, even though I am anointed… That’s why you have so many people with seven different [callings] because they think they have to do every single thing they envision.”

What a humbling message to those who are overwhelmed by doing-it-all.  The vision is not always for you, and that is ok.  With this introspection, Chef Adyre Mason walks proudly in her calling, carrying on the legacy of a shared dream.
